KEEP THE SACRIFICE
Have you ever noticed that under the Old Testament Covenant, the Israelites were given the Ten Commandments but were never told how to keep them.
However, they were told precisely, explicitly, and in great detail how to keep the Law which concerned the sacrifices which were to be offered.
Under the New Covenant we are neither told how to, neither given instructions as to how to keep the Commandments(actually it is stated in Heb. 7:18, that, ….there is verily a disannulling of the Commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof).
However, just as under the Old Covenant; under the New Covenant we are told explicitly how to keep the Sacrifice. And the Sacrifice that we are to keep is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Under the Old Covenant, the children of Israel offered up sin offerings every year and burnt offerings twice a day; plus.
Under the New Covenant, Jesus Christ was offered up once and for all (Heb. 10:10); and let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His Name (Heb. 13:15).
To His Name? What is His Name?
Well, Christ means He is the Son of God.
Jesus means savior: for He shall save His people from their sins.
In other words we are to offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, giving thanks that the Son of God has done (accomplished) what is necessary to save His people from their sin.
And this is the Sacrifice which must be done daily (Luke 9:23).
Under the Old Covenant, losing favor with God and stopping the Burnt offerings went hand in hand.
Under the New Covenant, losing favor with God and stopping our Continual Praise to Christ for what He has done for us, also goes hand in hand.
