LEGION FROM HELL
Have you ever wondered what the major thrust of the Devil is?
To steal, to kill, and to destroy is the obvious answer. But lets take a little closer look at what is probably the main front of his efforts.
We will exclude the killing of every Jew and Christian in the World as his greatest desire and try to look at his desire to see everyone in the World in Hell.
I believe it is accurate to say he wants every single human to accompany him as he is being cast into the lake of fire (I personally believe that Satan knows his destiny is the lake of fire).
And besides, killing every Christian would only insure their salvation; for death has no hold over those who believe in Christ.
WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO
Let’s say for discussion purposes, that the Devil has 10,000 demons in his Legion of fallen angels ( whatever the number is, we do not really know).
What would he send them out to do each day? Would he send them to the lost souls of the world in order to make their lives miserable and to insure that they stay on the pathway to Hell? The sin nature which they are in bondage to and are slaves of, will take every sinner strait to Hell anyway. So what would be the point of the Devil wasting man power, so to speak. And let us not think for an instant that Satan is somehow, just careless and doesn’t know what would be the best ways to bring people into condemnation.
The people which are the biggest concern for Satan are Believers. They are the ones who have by the Grace of God been taken out from under the power of the sin nature. ( not that Christians can’t sin; but they are not enslaved by the sin nature, and we have an advocate with the Father, i. e., Jesus Christ the Righteous). Also, because the Gospel is to be spread by the preaching of Believers; they are a double problem for the Devil.
Heb. 1:13-14, says that Angels are all Ministering Spirits, sent forth to Minister for them who shall be heirs of Salvation.
I believe one of the ways they minister is to provide help for Believers; who are being attacked by demons in whatever various way which the devil has devised against us. This is very important because the Believer is the one upon whom the attack of the Devil is mostly pointed. This I believe would be the most logical way for him to accomplish his desires for all people (eternity in the lake of fire).
WHAT CAN SEPARATE
Romans 8:35 says, Who shall separate us from the Love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword.
Verses 38-39 says, For I am persuaded, that neither death, not life, nor Angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the Love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
From looking at these verses one might conclude that the Devil is wasting his time, if he is trying to attack Believers.
It is true that, if the Believer stands continually in Christ, Satan will never have his way.
Gal. 5:4, says, Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the Law; you are fallen from Grace.
Apostle Paul was talking to born again Believers in Galatia who were being led astray by false teachers who had come in and told them they needed to add certain things to the sacrifice of Christ. In verse 2 of Galatians 5, Paul tells them that if you be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
It was not that the act of circumcision had suddenly become sinful. The problem was (and still is today), they were trying to add something to the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ!! In effect when they did that, they were saying, “what Christ accomplished on the Cross wasn’t sufficient.”
Please pause and think about what I am about to say. This is without a doubt one of the most crucial points as to how to prevent the Devil from causing you to loose your soul.
When they got circumcised, they were placing faith in that circumcism. To believe one thing is always, “to disbelieve another.” So while they were believing in circumsism (or any other law, or doctrine, or religious rule), they were in essence disbelieving that what Christ did for them totally purchased their salvation. This is the same as being ignorant of Gods Righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness (Rom. 10:3).
In the situation of the Galatians; the Law was the thing being propagated as something which is necessary for salvation. Today there are numerous rules, regulation, doctrines, and man made laws which have in effect taken the place of the Law in regards to hindering our Faith in Jesus Christ.
This I believe is where the Devil sends most of his demons to do his work. The best way they can take down someone’s Faith in Christ, is to give them something else to have Faith in. |
