MARRIED TO ANOTHER

Romans 7:1, Know ye not, Brethren, for I speak to them who know the Law, how that the Law has dominion over a man as long as he lives?
2. For the woman which has an husband is bound by the Law to her husband so long as he lives; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the Law of her husband.
3. So then if, while her husband lives, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that Law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

   The Law then, was explicit, as it is now; only one husband at a time. Divorce was frowned upon in most cases and the only acceptable way for any woman or man to be released from the marriage bond was if one or the other was to die (other than death, the only other acceptable way to break the marriage bond was for one of them to commit adultery).

Romans 7:4, Wherefore, my Brethren, you also are become dead to the Law by the body of Christ;
   (Thus we have the death, by the Law which released us from the Law of sin and death; or in effect, release us from our marriage bond to the Law [this speaks of the marriage bond which we had with the Law]. In the eyes of God the Law of Moses, was satisfied in what Christ accomplished on the Cross.)
that you should be married to another, even to Him Who is raised from the dead,

   As a Believer, we are now married to Christ. We are raised with him in newness of life, and we should continually trust in him for all our life and living.
   Not only are we not obligated to the Law, but serving the Law is now serving a different husband than He to Whom we are now bound in Marriage.
   In other words, serving the Law now is equivalent to spiritual adultery. We cannot be married to one and serve another (not to forget, the only acceptable way to break the marriage bond outside of death was and is adultery).

Romans 7:4,  that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
5. For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the Law did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
6. But now we are delivered from the Law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of Spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
