Sin cannot be gotten rid of by sinfulness.
Righteousness can not be brought about by unrighteousness.
An unjust condition can not bring about justification.
The unsanctified cannot bring about sanctification.
Unholiness can not bring about holiness.
And an incapacitated moral nature can never bring about a moral condition.
Trying within ones own strength, ability, and capacities to bring about what God desires for us to be is like trying to get flood waters to dry up by throwing buckets of water on them. Or like trying to put out a fire with a flame thrower. The example that I like best is that it is like trying to paint a black wall white, using black paint.
The ONLY WAY for these awful conditions to be addressed is through trust in Christ and what He accomplished at the Cross.
